Lys: First Night

|
Aithne did as she was told- shed her tunic and climbed under the rugs and into the bed. After last night it felt as though she had died and gone to heaven.

The peace of the room washed over her, and she soon fell asleep. She slept so deeply, she did not even dream, which was unusual for her.

Hours later, she opened her eyes to see the first rays of the sun come through the window, bathing the room in an orange-yellow glow.

Oh Christos, could this be more beautiful?

I forgot to ask earlier- what year is it, approximately?
I'm trying to determine if certain Gaelic songs I know were written yet. I'm guessing the one I used earlier wasn't, but I'm not sure. Since it mentioned calling someone "My Caesar", I figured it was close.

Approximately... It's about A.D. 428. Rome hasn't been leveled yet, but it's left Britain. The Empire continues to be divided East and West: we are about three emperors from the end.

Okay, so the original Gaelic version of "Be Thou My Vision" would be a little bit of a stretch, as the tune seems to be closer to 433, but only a /bit/ of a stretch...
I think I can use some of the old stuff I've been looking up.
She's a bard's daughter, after all. Even if she isn't a bard, she's grown up around the songs.
