Aithne looked up. "Oh, Guttersnipe! So you did see." She kept her voice low, so as not to wake anyone. "Lady Gwenhwyfar said there was not news, but there is. Terrible news." Her eyes darkened with anger at the memory. "Vorgtigern has sold his daughter to the Attacotti chief." She spat the words out. It took her a moment to remind herself that she could do nothing about it.

She looked up at the girl once more. "Please tell me she's coming with us."
