It was about time he told her. And she wouldn't mind hearing his real name, either. Surely his parents didn't call him scamp. But she would not ask that. He did not know hers, after all, and she wasn't likely to share it any time soon. Better he think her tamed than fire personified.
Though I think the former applies more aptly these days...
