Lys: An Unlikely Guardian

|
The dog looked up at the Guttersnipe and barked sharply- a retort more than anything, then whined and nudged Aithne's head. The effects of the seizure were wearing off, but her head still spun and nausea accosted her with even the slightest movement.

Another nudge from the dog and she rolled over and heaved herself empty. She returned to her back, sweating and feeling wrung out, but with the nausea gone and her senses returned to her.

"I had a fit." she said, matter-of-factly.

The dog nudged her again, pushing her to sit up, then sat himself so that she could lean against his back. I'll take care of you. The impression startled her. It wasn't really words, but she knew they weren't spoken and she knew they weren't hers.

She puzzled over it for a few moments, then realized. "It knew." she said. "It knew I was going to have a fit. That's why it slowed Concordia when I didn't. So I wouldn't be thrown."

I'm not sure whether the dog should be male or female...
Any ideas?

My gut feeling is to go with a male.
