Lys: Daring To Mount

|
Aithne guided Concordia out of the gate, only then realizing she'd have to dismount to close it. She looked to where the Guttersnipe was riding back, and decided to chance it.

She carefully, almost gingerly, dismounted, taking care to keep hold of the reins. Then she pulled the gate shut and latched it. Not hard. But now she had to mount without help. "Dear Concordia. Sweet Concordia. Don't betray me..." The mare sidestepped once, but otherwise stayed still and allowed her to mount. She turned and rode at a fairly sedate pace to where the Guttersnipe and her colt were coming. The time for fast riding would come when she built her confidence a bit more. "If only Concordia was a boat," she remarked to the girl, "Then I could show you a thing or two."

She surveyed the grounds. "Where to this time?" Unspoken was the knowledge that this was her last chance- the path would have to be chosen carefully. "Perhaps..." she spoke guardedly, "Perhaps we could take the same path tomorrow? It would make things easier if we didn't constantly change our route." Could you show me the way we're going tomorrow so that I don't miss my footing in the dark and land on my head?
