Lys: "There Shall Be No More Death"

|
Poor girl... She didn't want to be awake any more than the Guttersnipe did. To wake would mean to remember the nightmare, the heartache of the past hours... Memories of Aidan came to the forefront of her mind, which brought her father's death with them. Her tears welled up again, and some dropped, unbidden, onto the Guttersnipe's arm as Aithne gently shook her.

"I know... I want to sleep, too. But we can't, Guttersnipe." Her voice broke. "We have to keep going, just a little... longer..." She sniffed. "A little longer, and our sorrows will end."

And she found she was no longer speaking of waking from physical sleep.

Softly, the words came to her lips- "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, "Behold, I make all things new."
